JAMMU, SEPT 15: After years of evading judicial proceedings, a long-wanted absconder in a criminal case registered in 2020 has been arrested by Bishnah Police, in a significant action aimed at ensuring the execution of court warrants and upholding the rule of law.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vivek Sharma alias Gopi, son of Kedar Nath, resident of Nougran, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu.
He was wanted in connection with FIR Number 163/2020, registered at Police Station Bishnah under Sections 382, 323, 325 and 34 of the IPC.
According to police, Sharma had been repeatedly remaining absent from court proceedings and had failed to comply with the directions of the Court.
Taking note of his continued non-appearance, the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Bishnah, issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against him.
Acting on the judicial warrant, a police team from Police Station Bishnah intensified efforts to trace the accused and succeeded in apprehending him.
Following his arrest, he was taken into custody and produced for further proceedings as per the directions of the competent court.
Police said the action is part of its continued efforts to ensure that persons evading judicial proceedings do not escape the legal process.
The execution of long-pending warrants remains a key focus of police action to strengthen the criminal justice system and ensure accountability.
Jammu Police has reiterated that persons against whom warrants have been issued are required to comply with court directions and cooperate with the judicial process.
The department has also maintained that sustained efforts will continue to trace and apprehend absconders and other wanted persons in accordance with law.
