BARAMULLA, SEPT 13: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar on Saturday reviewed the security, law and order and crime situation in Baramulla and Police District Sopore, directing officers to strengthen the intelligence network, maintain sustained operational pressure on terrorists and their ecosystem, and adopt a proactive approach to emerging security challenges.

Accompanied by DIG North Kashmir Range Dr Vinod Kumar, the IGP visited District Baramulla and Police District Sopore and chaired separate security and operational review meetings.

During his Baramulla visit, IGP Kashmir paid homage to fallen police personnel at the Martyrs’ Memorial, District Police Lines Baramulla, recalling their supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

At the subsequent review meeting, SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh briefed the IGP on the prevailing security scenario, counter-terrorism operations, intelligence inputs, area domination, protection of vulnerable locations, law and order preparedness and the crime situation. Gazetted officers also apprised the IGP of developments and operational assignments in their respective jurisdictions.

Sujit Kumar directed officers to intensify grassroots-level intelligence generation and ensure intelligence-based, targeted operations against terrorists and the wider terror ecosystem. He stressed maintaining sustained operational pressure and called for a proactive and coordinated response by field formations.

The IGP further directed officers to strengthen surveillance, fine-tune naka and interception mechanisms and improve coordination among operational units to effectively counter emerging threats.

He also inspected Police Station Baramulla, where he reviewed its functioning and directed personnel to ensure professional and responsive policing, strengthen crime prevention and investigation, maintain records properly and ensure prompt redressal of public grievances.

Later, IGP Kashmir visited Police District Sopore, where SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib, along with SDPOs and DySsP Operations, briefed him on the prevailing security situation and measures being undertaken across the district.

Concluding the visit, the IGP appreciated the efforts of officers and personnel in both districts and directed them to remain vigilant, professional and operationally prepared, while continuing coordinated efforts to maintain peace and security across North Kashmir.
