JAMMU, SEPT 13: Nagrota Police has cracked a theft case involving gold ornaments from a residential house at Dhammi Jagti, arresting one accused and recovering the entire stolen gold property worth approximately ₹15 lakh.
The breakthrough came during the investigation of FIR Number 225/2026, registered at Police Station Nagrota under Sections 331(3) and 305(a) of the BNS.
Police said investigators conducted a detailed examination of the crime scene and analysed CCTV footage, tower dump data, witness statements and CDRs, besides collecting and examining technical and circumstantial evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify those involved.
Based on the investigation, police identified and arrested Mohit Singh, son of Prem Singh, resident of Kukrian Goh Manhasa, Tehsil Marh, Jammu.
During further investigation, police said, the accused disclosed the location of the stolen property. Acting in accordance with legal procedure, the investigation team recovered the gold ornaments from his residential premises at Goh Manhasa, where the property had allegedly been concealed beneath a cow shed.
The recovered property comprises 11 gold ornaments, including one necklace, one tikka, one nath, two bangles, two pairs of jhumkas, two tops and two rings—one male and one female. The ornaments weigh approximately 10 tolas (around 100 grams) and have an estimated value of ₹15 lakh.
All the recovered ornaments were seized through due legal procedure and taken into police possession.
Police said the recovery of the entire stolen property, coupled with the technical and other evidence gathered during the investigation, marks a significant breakthrough and will help establish the circumstances and sequence of the offence.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to fair, thorough and evidence-based investigations, with strict legal action against all persons found involved in criminal activities.
