JAMMU, SEPT 16: In another citizen-centric policing initiative, Jammu Police on Wednesday returned 60 lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹10 lakh to their rightful owners during a handing-over ceremony held at the District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu.
The mobile phones were traced and recovered through the dedicated efforts of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and ESU teams, working under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu.
The ceremony marked the second such handing-over initiative conducted by the officer, reflecting the continued efforts of Jammu Police to leverage technology and coordinated policing mechanisms to assist citizens in recovering their lost property.
Officials said the recovery and restoration of the mobile phones to their owners demonstrates the effective use of technological tools in citizen-oriented policing and public service delivery.
Jammu Police also urged citizens to adopt necessary precautions to safeguard their mobile devices and digital accounts.
People were advised to use strong and unique passwords or PINs, enable available device-security features, particularly for banking and financial applications, and report the loss of mobile phones to police without delay.
The department reiterated its commitment to strengthening technology-driven policing and ensuring prompt assistance to citizens in matters concerning their safety, security and property.
