SRINAGAR, SEPT 21: Shaheed Gunj Police have arrested one accused and booked another in connection with a theft case, recovering five stolen batteries allegedly disposed of after the crime.
Police registered FIR Number 84/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS and launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Umer Shafi Khan, son of Mohd Shafi Khan, resident of Maisuma.
During questioning and investigation, police recovered five stolen batteries on the accused’s disclosure from within the jurisdiction of Police Station Parimpora.
Police said Khan had allegedly sold the stolen batteries to Muneer Ahmad Lone, son of Gh Hassan Lone, resident of Fruit Mandi Parimpora. Lone has also been booked under Section 317(2) BNS for allegedly knowingly receiving stolen property.
The recovered batteries have been seized, while further investigation is underway.
The swift action by Shaheed Gunj Police was appreciated by local residents, who also lauded SSP Srinagar and newly posted SHO Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad for the prompt detection of the case.
