NEW DELHI, SEPT 23: All Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain open and function normally on Sunday, September 27, 2026, ahead of the proposed three-day nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30.
The special opening has been planned to ensure that customers have access to banking services despite the strike following the weekend holidays on September 26 and 27, and to prevent disruption of genuine banking requirements over an extended period.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the opening of all bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and Currency Chests on September 27.
Banks have accordingly been advised to make necessary arrangements for normal operations on the day.
The proposed strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). Government authorities and bank managements have appealed to the unions to defer the strike, while stating that necessary measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential banking services.
The Department said the welfare and convenience of bank customers remains a priority, particularly in view of the proposed strike and the preceding weekend holidays.
