DODA, SEPT 23: Continuing its crackdown on the illegal sale and transportation of liquor, Police recovered 80 bottles of illicit liquor from a vehicle during a naka checking operation at Pul Doda and booked two persons under relevant provisions of law.
Acting on reliable information, a police team led by the In-Charge Police Post Pul Doda established a naka at Pul Doda and intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK06C-4929, which was travelling towards Doda City.
During a search of the vehicle, the police team recovered 72 bottles of JK Special Whisky, each measuring 250 ml, and eight bottles of Godfather Beer, each measuring 500 ml, taking the total recovery to 80 bottles.
The two occupants were identified as Surinder Singh, son of Late Rana Sundar Singh, resident of Doda, and Slinder Singh, son of Angrez Singh, resident of Kudhar, Doda.
The recovered liquor was seized on the spot following the prescribed legal procedure, while necessary legal action has been initiated against the accused persons under the relevant provisions of law.
Doda Police said the operation was part of its continued drive against the illegal transportation and sale of liquor and reiterated that strict action would be taken against those involved in such activities across the district.
