JAMMU, SEPT 23: Bahu Fort Police has solved a house theft case with the arrest of the main accused and recovery of stolen jewellery, cash and other valuables worth approximately ₹25 lakh, police said.
The theft took place during the intervening night of September 19 and 20 at the residence of Puneesh Jain, son of Rajinder Jain, resident of House No. 234/5, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, where jewellery, cash and other valuables were stolen.
Following the incident, FIR Number 284/2026 under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the BNS was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and an investigation was launched.
A dedicated police team was constituted to trace the accused and recover the stolen property.
During sustained investigation, supported by technical inputs and examination of suspects, police identified the main accused and subsequently arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Sonu Dass Manikpuri, son of Dinesh Dass, resident of House No. 117, Sector-7, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
During questioning, the accused allegedly disclosed his involvement in the theft, following which police recovered a substantial portion of the stolen property in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
The recovered items include two pairs of golden bangles comprising four golden kadas, one pair of golden churi, a golden bracelet with a red stone, a golden chain, a silver coin, two pairs of yellowish/golden-coloured bangles, one pair of silver-coloured bangles, an artificial locket with chain and tops, a silver bracelet/kada and ₹3,200 in cash.
Police said the recovered property is valued at approximately ₹25 lakh.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of the crime, ascertain the involvement of other persons and recover any remaining stolen property.
Bahu Fort Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the property of citizens and taking prompt legal action against those involved in theft and other criminal activities.
