BARAMULLA, SEPT 27: Police have cracked a theft case with the arrest of three accused persons and recovery of stolen copper utensils from Hyderbeigh Market.
The case was registered on August 6, 2026, under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the BNS, following a complaint regarding the theft of copper utensils from a shop owned by Shakeel Ahmad Malik, resident of Singhpura, at Hyderbeigh Market.
During the intervening night of August 5-6, unknown thieves allegedly broke through the wall of the shop and fled with a substantial quantity of copper utensils.
During the investigation, police pursued technical and human intelligence leads and questioned several suspects. On September 24, one suspect, Abrar Hussain Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir, resident of Kakerpora, was apprehended for questioning.
During sustained questioning, he allegedly disclosed his involvement in the theft along with other accomplices.
Acting on the disclosure and identification, police recovered the stolen property and subsequently arrested three accused persons identified as Abrar Hussain Mir and Showket Hussain Mir, both sons of Manzoor Ahmad Mir, residents of Kakerpora, and Nazir Ahmad Dar, son of Assadullah Dar, resident of Chainabal.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and identify any additional persons involved.
Police said more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
