JAMMU, OCT 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has prohibited examination supervisory staff from carrying mobile phones during examination hours, directing centre superintendents to ensure strict implementation of the instructions across examination centres in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a circular issued on October 21, 2026, vide No. F(PSS-B)2026/651, the Board impressed upon all centre superintendents not to permit supervisory staff to keep mobile phones with them during examination hours. The circular states that the supervisory personnel will have to deposit their mobile phones with the respective centre superintendents, who will be personally responsible for ensuring compliance with the directive.
The Board has clarified that the restriction does not apply to centre superintendents, who have been exempted from the ban. They are permitted to retain their mobile phones to facilitate effective communication and maintain constant contact with the divisional, sub-divisional and branch offices of JKBOSE, besides their own departmental hierarchy.
The directive aims to strengthen examination supervision and ensure that the prescribed procedures are followed during Board examinations. By placing responsibility for the implementation of the order directly on centre superintendents, the Board has sought to establish clear accountability at examination centres.
In another important instruction, JKBOSE has directed that no candidate be allowed to leave the examination centre with the question paper until at least half of the examination duration has elapsed.
The restriction is intended to regulate the movement of question papers outside examination centres during the initial half of the examination period and ensure compliance with the Board’s examination procedures.
The circular has been issued by the Secretary of JKBOSE and circulated to the Directors of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir, the Joint Secretary, Examination-Jammu Division, the Deputy Secretary, Examination-Kashmir Division, and all Chief Education Officers for information and necessary action.
The latest directions underline the Board’s emphasis on maintaining discipline, accountability and procedural compliance during examinations across Jammu and Kashmir.
