SRINAGAR, OCT 21: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday paid heartfelt tributes to police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, honouring their courage, dedication and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, acknowledging the immense sacrifices made by their loved ones in the service of the country.
In a message shared on X on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, the Lieutenant Governor saluted the bravery of the fallen personnel and extended his respect to their families, whose strength and resilience remain an enduring source of inspiration.
“On Police Commemoration Day, I pay heartfelt tribute to the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in service of the nation. I bow to their courage, duty and sacrifice and extend my respect and solidarity to their families,” the Lieutenant Governor wrote.
Emphasising the enduring legacy of the martyrs, Sinha said their valour continued to inspire collective efforts towards strengthening peace, unity and security. He called upon people to honour their sacrifices by reaffirming their commitment to building a safer, stronger and more prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
“The valour of our martyrs inspires us to strengthen peace, unity and security. Let us honour them through our collective commitment to a safer, stronger and more prosperous Jammu Kashmir,” he added.
Police Commemoration Day is observed annually on October 21 to honour police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The day commemorates the sacrifice of ten Central Reserve Police Force personnel who were killed in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh on October 21, 1959, while performing their duties.
The occasion serves as a solemn reminder of the risks undertaken by police personnel in maintaining law and order, protecting citizens and responding to security challenges. Across the country, the day is marked by tributes and commemorative ceremonies honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
In Jammu and Kashmir, where police personnel have faced prolonged and challenging security situations, the day carries particular significance. The sacrifices of fallen personnel underscore the importance of public safety, peace and the collective responsibility of society to respect and remember those who served the nation.
The Lieutenant Governor’s message reaffirmed the importance of preserving the legacy of the martyrs and supporting their families while working towards a peaceful, secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
