ANANTNAG, OCT 25: In a move targeting the financial assets of alleged drug traffickers, Anantnag Police has attached a double-storey shopping complex with an estimated market value of ₹1.30 crore in Dooru under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The property belongs to Mohammad Amin Sofi, son of Abdul Rahim Sofi, a resident of Patikhas, Verinag, who is involved in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru, police said.
The attachment forms part of the district police’s continuing action against narcotics-related activities, with the focus extending beyond the arrest of alleged offenders to identifying and acting against assets suspected of being linked to proceeds from the drug trade.
By invoking the provisions of the NDPS Act, police are seeking to disrupt the financial networks that sustain drug trafficking and prevent suspected proceeds of narcotics-related activities from being dealt with in violation of the law.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to intensifying action against drug trafficking and taking stringent legal measures against those involved in the narcotics trade. The department said such enforcement measures are aimed at curbing the drug menace and protecting young people and society from the harmful consequences of substance abuse.
The attachment action marks another step in the district’s ongoing crackdown on the financial infrastructure associated with alleged drug trafficking.
