Anantnag Police detain repeat drug peddler under PIT-NDPS Act

ANANTNAG, SEPT 16: Intensifying its crackdown on the illicit drug trade, Anantnag Police has detained a repeat drug offender under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.

The detainee has been identified as Khursheed Ahmad Rather, son of Gul Mohd Rather, resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, who, according to police, has been repeatedly involved in activities related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances.

Police said the detention action was initiated in view of the accused’s continued involvement in drug-related activities and with the objective of preventing him from further engaging in illicit trafficking.

The competent authority issued the detention order under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.

Following the execution of the detention order, Khursheed Ahmad Rather was lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah, in accordance with law.

Anantnag Police said stringent action against drug traffickers and repeat offenders will continue as part of its sustained campaign against the narcotics trade.

The force reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement measures and curbing the circulation of drugs in the district.
