BANDIPORA, OCT 18: Intensifying its preventive policing measures to strengthen public safety and curb potential unlawful activities, Bandipora Police conducted checking drives at multiple locations across the district, inspecting medical shops, SIM card vendors and scrap dealers to verify compliance with prescribed regulations and ensure proper maintenance of mandatory records.

The coordinated checking drives covered establishments falling under the jurisdictions of Police Stations Sumbal and Aragam, as well as the Hajin area. The exercise focused on monitoring the functioning of these establishments, verifying relevant documentation and sensitising operators about their legal obligations to prevent the misuse of commercial activities for unlawful purposes.

During the drive, medical shops were inspected at Ganastan Nowgam, falling under Police Station Sumbal, and Gundachina, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Aragam. Police teams checked the establishments to monitor compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing their operations. The exercise was aimed at ensuring that medical establishments maintain the required records and adhere to the prescribed regulatory framework.

As part of the same initiative, SIM card vendors at Nadihal, under Police Station Aragam, and in Hajin were checked by police teams. The officials examined relevant records and emphasised the importance of maintaining proper documentation of SIM card sales and customer details in accordance with applicable rules.

The vendors were sensitised about the need to follow prescribed verification procedures and maintain accurate records to prevent the potential misuse of mobile connections for unlawful activities.

Police teams also inspected scrap dealers at Ganastan Nowgam, Gundachina and Hajin. During the checking, relevant records pertaining to scrap materials and commercial transactions were examined, while dealers were directed to maintain proper documentation of materials received and transactions conducted.

The exercise focused on strengthening accountability in the scrap trade and preventing the possible disposal or handling of stolen property through commercial channels. Maintaining transparent transaction records can assist law enforcement agencies in verifying the origin of materials and identifying suspicious dealings when required.

The checking drives form part of Bandipora Police’s preventive security measures aimed at strengthening oversight of commercial establishments that are subject to specific regulatory requirements. By verifying records and reinforcing compliance, police seek to minimise opportunities for the misuse of such businesses and improve cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the local business community.

J&K Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining public order, strengthening security and preventing unlawful activities across the district. The police also urged medical shop operators, SIM card vendors, scrap dealers and other stakeholders to comply with applicable rules, maintain proper documentation and cooperate with police during inspections and verification drives.

Bandipora Police emphasised that regular checking, regulatory compliance and public cooperation remain important components of preventive policing and efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment across the district.
