DRASS, OCT 19: In a continued crackdown on drug-related activities, Drass Police has recovered approximately 91 grams of a suspected charas-like substance, a cannabis-derived resin, from a man during night patrolling and registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to police, the recovery was made during a routine night patrol when personnel noticed a person allegedly attempting to conceal himself after spotting the police party. His suspicious behaviour prompted the personnel to intervene and conduct a personal search, leading to the recovery of the suspected cannabis resin.

The individual was identified as Sachin Chauhan, son of Rajender Singh Chauhan, a resident of Dirnad, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Following the recovery, FIR Number 57/2026 under Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Drass. Further investigation has been initiated to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession and trace the source and intended destination of the recovered substance.

Charas is a cannabis-derived resin, and its possession and related activities are regulated under the NDPS Act. The substance recovered in this case has been described by police as charas-like; its precise identification would depend on the relevant examination.

District Police Drass reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse, urging the public, particularly young people, to stay away from narcotics and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying and preventing drug-related activities.
