DRASS, OCT 19: In a bid to promote legal awareness among students and strengthen community engagement, students of Model Public School, Muradbagh, Drass, visited Police Station Drass on Monday under the ‘Know Your Police’ initiative, gaining first-hand insight into police functioning, criminal laws and the importance of public cooperation in maintaining law and order.

The educational visit was organised to familiarise students with the responsibilities of law enforcement agencies and provide them with an opportunity to understand the functioning of a police station and the District Police Office. The interaction also aimed to encourage trust, transparency and constructive engagement between the younger generation and the authorities responsible for public safety.

During the visit, the students were briefed on various aspects of police administration and the role of law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace, preventing crime and safeguarding the public. They were also sensitised about the newly enacted criminal laws, helping them understand the evolving legal framework and the importance of awareness about laws and civic responsibilities.

Particular emphasis was laid on the adverse effects of online gaming, including the potential risks it poses to children and young people. The awareness session highlighted the importance of responsible digital behaviour and educating students about possible online risks.

The students also interacted with the SP Drass in his office, where they shared their experiences and expressed appreciation for the informative engagement. They requested that such visits be organised regularly to help students gain a deeper understanding of police functioning and strengthen relations between law enforcement agencies and the public.

The initiative reflects an effort to introduce students to the working of the criminal justice system in an accessible and interactive manner while encouraging responsible citizenship and greater awareness of legal and social issues.

District Police Drass reiterated its commitment to community-oriented initiatives and youth engagement programmes aimed at fostering mutual trust, cooperation and stronger police-public relations.
