BANDIPORA, OCT 24: J&K Police conducted market inspections and anti-encroachment operations in Sumbal and Aragam to improve traffic movement, safeguard public convenience and ensure compliance with prescribed regulations, while also checking medical shops and SIM card vendors for adherence to applicable guidelines.

In Sumbal, Police Station Sumbal, in coordination with the Municipal Committee Sumbal, carried out an anti-encroachment drive in the local market. During the operation, the Municipal Committee imposed fines totalling ₹2,650 on violators found during the drive.

The action was aimed at addressing encroachments affecting public spaces and movement within the market area. Such obstructions can inconvenience pedestrians and commuters and contribute to traffic congestion, making enforcement important for maintaining orderly access to commercial areas.

Alongside the anti-encroachment operation, police teams inspected medical shops and SIM card vendors in Sumbal Market and adjoining areas to verify compliance with prescribed norms. The inspections formed part of efforts to ensure that commercial establishments and service providers follow applicable regulations.

Separately, Police Station Aragam conducted inspections of SIM card vendors in Aragam and nearby areas, focusing on adherence to the established guidelines governing their operations.

The coordinated action combined market regulation with compliance checks on businesses and SIM card service providers. Police reiterated that such drives would continue to promote smooth traffic movement, improve public convenience and ensure observance of the rules.

Residents and traders were urged to cooperate with the authorities and comply with the prescribed regulations to help maintain orderly markets and accessible public spaces across Bandipora district.
