BARAMULLA, SEPT 23: Baramulla Police has intensified its crackdown on illegal mining and unauthorised extraction of minor minerals, seizing two motors allegedly being used for illegal sand extraction during an early-morning raid at Jahama.
The enforcement operation was conducted today as part of the ongoing drive against illegal mining activities.
During the raid, police teams found two motors being used for sand extraction and seized them on the spot.
The seized machinery has been taken into custody, while action has been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. Further legal proceedings are underway in accordance with law.
The crackdown is aimed at curbing unauthorised extraction and transportation of minor minerals and preventing damage to natural resources and riverine areas.
Baramulla Police reiterated that enforcement against illegal mining, extraction and transportation of minor minerals will continue, with strict legal action against persons found violating the law.
