BARAMULLA, SEPT 29: As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen surveillance and preventive policing, Baramulla Police conducted a comprehensive security review in the Chandoosa area, focusing on CCTV coverage, SIM verification and maintenance of subscriber records.
During the review, police assessed the existing CCTV camera network, coverage and accessibility, with particular attention to surveillance of vulnerable and strategically important locations.
The exercise was aimed at identifying gaps and ensuring that available surveillance infrastructure remains effective for monitoring and security purposes.
Police teams also inspected SIM vendors operating in the area and reviewed compliance with prescribed procedures for customer verification and maintenance of subscriber records.
Vendors were directed to strictly follow applicable guidelines, ensure proper verification of customers and keep records updated and maintained as required.
The security review forms part of preventive policing measures aimed at improving local surveillance, strengthening verification mechanisms and enhancing coordination between security infrastructure and ground-level policing.
Police reiterated that regular security assessments, effective CCTV surveillance, proper SIM verification and accurate record maintenance are essential components of a robust security grid.
Authorities said such exercises would continue as part of efforts to maintain a secure environment across Baramulla district.
