BARAMULLA, SEPT 28: Boniyar Police intensified its preventive efforts against drug abuse by conducting a comprehensive anti-drug awareness programme at Trikanjan, focusing on schoolchildren in the vulnerable area.
The programme was organised by Police Station Boniyar and covered students from primary, middle and high school levels. Dedicated awareness sessions were held at Government Primary School Trikanjan, Chinar Public School and Government High School Trikanjan, where students were sensitised about the harmful physical, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse.
During the sessions, students were educated about preventive measures, the importance of resisting peer pressure and the need to make responsible and healthy choices. They were encouraged to remain away from narcotics and adopt disciplined, productive and healthy lifestyles.
The initiative reflects J&K Police’s continued emphasis on taking anti-drug awareness efforts to the grassroots, particularly in areas identified as vulnerable, while directly engaging children and youth.
Police stressed that early awareness, timely intervention and sustained community participation are essential to preventing drug abuse and protecting the younger generation.
Parents, teachers and members of the community were also urged to remain vigilant and work collectively towards building a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society.
