SRINAGAR, SEPT 25: Congress MLAs on Friday displayed banners inside the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as proceedings of the House began on the fourth day of the ongoing session.
The protesting MLAs, as per news agency JKNS, raised slogans and alleged that the electoral process had been undermined.
Some members also raised the slogan, “Democracy has been murdered.”
The protest comes amid the Congress’s nationwide campaign seeking Kumar’s removal from the post of Chief Election Commissioner.
The party has alleged irregularities in electoral roll-related decisions and has called for an independent review of the electoral process.
The J&K Legislative Assembly is currently holding its sixth session, scheduled from September 21 to September 30, according to the official Assembly portal.
