JAMMU, SEPT 15: The Jammu Police security and crime network came under a comprehensive review as DIG-P Jammu Shridhar Patil, directed officers to intensify intelligence-led policing, tighten surveillance over criminals and OGWs, and ensure faster disposal of pending cases.
Chairing a security and crime review meeting, the DIG-P took a detailed assessment of 60/90-day cases, e-Summons, e-Sakshya, OGWs, History Sheeters and UAPA and NDPS cases, besides reviewing the security arrangements along highways, railway infrastructure and the border grid.
The meeting placed particular emphasis on preventive policing and intelligence-based operations, with officers directed to ensure that available intelligence is promptly converted into effective action on the ground.
The monitoring of OGWs and habitual offenders was also given priority. Officers were directed to maintain updated databases and ensure continuous monitoring of individuals under police scrutiny so that potential threats and criminal activities can be detected at an early stage.
The DIG-P also reviewed operational preparedness and the implementation of earlier directions, stressing strong supervisory control and accountability at every level.
Pending cases came under particular focus, with officers directed to ensure timely investigation and disposal of cases and prevent avoidable delays in the criminal justice process.
The security grid covering highways, railways and border areas, along with traffic management, was also examined. The DIG-P called for sustained vigilance, coordinated deployment and operational readiness across vulnerable and strategically important areas.
The review reinforced the message that Jammu Police will continue to pursue a proactive and intelligence-driven security strategy, combining close criminal surveillance, stronger field coordination and faster investigation to stay ahead of emerging security and crime challenges.
