IMPHAL, SEPT 22: Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force G P Singh on Tuesday interacted with CRPF personnel who sustained injuries while performing their duties during separate incidents in Manipur on September 19, commending them for their courage, discipline and steadfast commitment to duty.
The interaction formed part of the DG’s ongoing visit to Manipur, where he met personnel of 94 Battalion and 112 Battalion who were injured while protecting Police Station Kangpokpi and while dealing with stone-pelting incidents, respectively.
During the interaction, Singh enquired about the condition and recovery of the injured personnel and lauded their conduct under challenging circumstances.
He appreciated their high morale, courage and devotion to duty, stressing that the commitment displayed by the personnel reflected the CRPF’s role in maintaining security and public order in difficult operational environments.
The DG’s visit comes amid heightened security challenges in parts of Manipur. Kangpokpi witnessed tension on September 19 following the detention of individuals by security forces, with reports of protests and stone-pelting against security personnel.
The CRPF has a substantial operational presence in Manipur, with its Manipur and Nagaland Sector responsible for overseeing operational efficiency, training and welfare of units deployed in the region.
Singh’s interaction with the injured personnel was also aimed at boosting their morale and acknowledging the risks faced by frontline troops while carrying out their responsibilities.
The CRPF Chief’s visit highlights the force’s emphasis on the welfare of personnel deployed in sensitive operational areas.
The CRPF currently has 201 General Duty battalions, besides specialised formations including CoBRA and Rapid Action Force units, according to the force’s official website.
The DG also reviewed the situation during his Manipur visit and interacted with personnel deployed on the ground, reinforcing the message that the force’s operational responsibilities would continue to be discharged with professionalism and restraint while maintaining security and protecting personnel and civilians.
The CRPF subsequently shared images from the DG’s Manipur visit through its official website, confirming the engagement as part of his ongoing tour.
