SRINAGAR, SEPT 22: After a five-year gap, Jammu and Kashmir Bank is set to throw open recruitment for banking assistants and officers, with the much-awaited notification expected within the next few days.
J&K Bank MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee announced the recruitment plan during the Bank’s 88th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at SKICC, saying the agreement with the agency tasked with conducting the recruitment examination has already been finalised.
Chatterjee said the recruitment exercise would cover Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, while limited recruitment outside the Union Territories could also be undertaken wherever the Bank requires personnel with proficiency in local languages.
“The bank has a presence in 22 states outside J&K and we require employees who are proficient in local languages to serve our customers,” he said.
The announcement comes as the Bank reported strong financial performance, posting its fourth consecutive year of record profitability.
Chatterjee said net profit surged to an all-time high of ₹2,363 crore, registering a 13.5 per cent year-on-year growth.
The Bank also crossed the ₹3-trillion total business milestone in June 2026, marking another significant landmark in its growth trajectory.
Chatterjee said the Bank’s performance had improved across key parameters, including profitability, asset quality, operational efficiency and capital strength. He also highlighted the rapid expansion of digital banking, with digital transactions growing by up to 94 per cent during FY 2025-26.
Part-time Non-Executive Chairman S. Krishnan, who chaired the AGM, said the Bank’s future growth must remain aligned with its contribution to the economic and social transformation of the region.
Chatterjee said the Bank would continue investing in employees, technology, cybersecurity and customer services, while strengthening innovation and operational excellence.
“Our aspiration is clear: to become the ‘Bank of Choice’,” he said.
The AGM concluded with a question-and-answer session in which shareholders raised queries that were addressed by the MD and CEO.
