SRINAGAR, SEPT 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has attached Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmad Jan, Medical Superintendent of SKIMS Soura, to the office of the Principal, SKIMS Medical College Bemina, pending an enquiry into his conduct.
According to Government Order No. 713-JK(HME) of 2026, issued by the Health & Medical Education Department, Prof. Jan shall remain attached with the office of the Principal, SKIMS Medical College Bemina, until the outcome of the enquiry.
In a parallel arrangement, the government has assigned Prof. (Dr.) G.H. Yattoo, Professor and Head of the Department of Hospital Administration at SKIMS Soura, the additional responsibility of Medical Superintendent, SKIMS Soura. He will discharge the duties of the Medical Superintendent alongside his existing responsibilities.
The order has been issued by order of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and signed by M. Raju, Commissioner Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department.
Prof. Jan will continue to remain attached at SKIMS Medical College Bemina during the pendency of the enquiry, while Prof. Yattoo will oversee the functioning of the Medical Superintendent’s office at SKIMS Soura in addition to his existing assignment.
Copies of the order have been circulated to senior administrative and health authorities, including the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Home Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, Director SKIMS Soura and the Chief Secretary’s office, among others.
