KULGAM, SEPT 29: Devsar Police intensified its action against drug trafficking by arresting a suspected drug peddler and recovering approximately 550 grams of cannabis-like substance during naka checking at Sopat Crossing.
A police party from Police Station Devsar was conducting dynamic naka checking when personnel noticed a suspicious man carrying a polythene bag near the crossing.
On noticing the police, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended by the alert police personnel.
The accused was identified as Suhail Ahmad Hajam, son of Gh. Rasool Hajam, a resident of Nussu Badragund.
During his search, police recovered approximately 550 grams of cannabis-like substance from his possession.
Following the recovery, FIR Number 71/2026 under relevant provisions of law was registered at Police Station Devsar and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the recovered substance and establish possible links with the wider drug network.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and share information regarding drug peddling and other narcotics-related activities. The identity of informants will be kept confidential, police said.
