JAMMU, SEPT 20: DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shridhar Patil conducted surprise inspections of police checkpoints (nakas) at Gangyal and Bari Brahmana, taking stock of security arrangements, checking procedures and the overall functioning of the deployed personnel.
During the inspections, the DIG directed police personnel to intensify checking and take firm action against traffic violations, while maintaining strict vigil to prevent the transportation of illegal items and other prohibited material through the checkpoints.
The officers and personnel on duty were also directed to ensure that checking and naka-related records are maintained and built as per prescribed standards, with proper documentation of inspections and enforcement activities.
Emphasising the importance of public-friendly policing, Patil instructed the personnel to maintain polite and courteous behaviour with members of the public during checking, while ensuring that security protocols are followed without compromise.
The DIG also reviewed the functioning of the nakas and stressed that alertness, disciplined checking, accurate record-keeping and professional conduct must remain the focus of personnel deployed at strategic checkpoints.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of the instructions and maintain heightened vigilance at all important entry and exit points.
