KARGIL, SEPT 20: With theft incidents showing an upward trend across Ladakh, police have called upon residents of Khangral and adjoining areas to remain vigilant and strengthen coordination with law-enforcement agencies to prevent theft, burglary and other criminal activities.
The advisory was issued during a Police-Public Interactive Meeting at Police Post Khangral, held under the supervision of DySP DAR, DPL Kargil, and SHO Police Station Wakha. Around 40 residents participated in the meeting, including prominent religious and community leaders, Nambardars of Khangral, Bodh Kharboo and Hinoskote, and the President of the Khangral Merchant Association.
Police directed residents to immediately report suspicious persons, movements or activities and remain particularly cautious during the present phase of the season, when theft and burglary incidents can increase with the movement of outside elements.
The gathering was also sensitised about the dangers of drug abuse, with police urging community members, particularly local leaders, to play an active role in preventing substance abuse and reporting information regarding drug-related activities.
Strict compliance with tenant and labourer registration and verification was another key direction issued during the meeting. Police stressed that all tenants and labourers must be properly registered and verified in accordance with the prescribed security requirements.
Residents used the interaction to place several local issues and grievances before the officers. The police assured the participants that their concerns would be taken up on priority and necessary action would be initiated for their resolution.
The officers further urged the public to maintain peace, communal harmony and close coordination with police, emphasising that effective crime prevention requires active participation from the community.
The residents welcomed the initiative and appreciated the police for providing a platform to raise local concerns directly with the officers. They assured their cooperation in tackling theft, drug abuse and other anti-social activities.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the police officers.
