Uri, Oct 14: Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid has fulfilled a commitment made to students of Government Degree College Uri, with the MP Office Baramulla handing over a bus to the college under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) on Wednesday.
The demand, as per a statement, was raised by students during MP Er. Rashid’s visit to the college when he was released on interim bail. The students had requested a dedicated vehicle to address their transportation difficulties and the MP Office has now fulfilled their request.
AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the handover reflected Er. Rashid’s commitment to responding to genuine public demands and addressing the practical difficulties faced by students.
“The students had personally requested Engineer Rashid to provide a bus for their college during his visit. Despite his continued incarceration, efforts were made through the MP Office Baramulla to fulfil that commitment. Today, the promise made to the students has been honoured,” Inam Un Nabi said.
The bus was inaugurated by the MP Office team, led by PA MO Baramulla Firdous Peerzada and District PRO Aijaz Lone, in the presence of Government Degree College Uri Principal Abdul Majeed Chalkoo and other staff members.
In a separate welfare initiative, the MP Office Baramulla also provided financial assistance to five families from Maya Bejhama, Uri, who suffered significant losses due to flash floods and landslides.
The assistance fulfils a commitment made by the MP Office on behalf of Er. Rashid during its visit to the affected area last year. During that visit, the MP Office had pledged to contribute one month’s salary towards relief for families affected by the natural disaster. The financial assistance has now been extended to five affected families in keeping with that commitment.
Inam Un Nabi said educational support and assistance to families affected by natural disasters remained important public welfare concerns. He added that the MP Office continued to work towards fulfilling commitments made to people across the constituency, despite Er. Rashid’s continued incarceration.
