SIWAN, OCT 24: Five people were killed after a powerful explosion ripped through an allegedly illegal firecracker manufacturing unit operating inside a residential house in Alampur village of Bihar’s Siwan district, triggering the collapse of a two-storey building and prompting a police investigation into the incident.
The explosion occurred on Friday evening within the jurisdiction of Jamo Police Station. According to reports, the deceased included a firecracker trader, members of his family and two workers who were present at the premises when the blast occurred. The force of the explosion caused extensive damage to the building, which subsequently collapsed.
Taking cognisance of the incident, Siwan Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni constituted a special investigation team under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Maharajganj to investigate the circumstances leading to the explosion and establish the nature of the activities being carried out at the premises.
