SRINAGAR, SEPT 17: Fresh snowfall was recorded at Kabul Gali in north Kashmir’s Gurez Valley on Thursday as widespread rain lashed Jammu and Kashmir, with several areas of south Kashmir receiving heavy showers.
Srinagar recorded 8.2 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, while Qazigund, Pahalgam and Gulmarg received 13.4 mm, 13 mm and 13.2 mm, respectively.
Heavy rainfall was also reported from the Jammu division, with Udhampur recording 117.8 mm, Jammu 112.9 mm and Katra 45.2 mm during the same period.
Kabul Gali, situated at an altitude of around 4,167 metres, received light to moderate snowfall, covering the high-altitude pass and adjoining areas with fresh snow. The pass connects Tulail Valley in Gurez with the Mushkoh Valley towards the Drass sector of Ladakh.
The snowfall caused no major disruption, though travellers heading towards higher reaches were advised to exercise caution. The weather activity also brought down temperatures across the region, with chilly conditions prevailing in the upper reaches.
