BUDGAM, SEPT 21: Budgam Police have cracked a gold theft case reported at the Charar-i-Sharief Shrine, arresting a woman accused of stealing a gold bangle from a devotee and recovering the stolen jewellery.
The case surfaced after a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Charar-i-Sharief alleging that a gold bangle was stolen from the wrist of the complainant’s mother during their visit to the shrine.
Police subsequently registered FIR Number 70/2026 under Section 303(2) of the BNS and launched an investigation.
Investigators examined CCTV footage and other available evidence, which helped establish the identity of the suspected accused.
The investigating team subsequently apprehended Maqsooda, wife of Tariq Ahmad, resident of Madbal, Chadoora, presently residing at Bagh-i-Mehtab, Srinagar.
During questioning, police said, the accused disclosed her involvement in the theft, following which the stolen gold bangle was recovered from her possession.
Police said further investigation is underway to establish all aspects of the case.
