NUBRA, SEPT 23: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project Nubra organised a two-day training programme for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs)-cum-Poshan Maah celebration at the SDM Conference Hall in Diskit, aimed at strengthening awareness and practices related to child nutrition, early childhood development and community participation.
The programme was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Mohd Safdar Bhat, as chief guest.
The event began with the traditional welcome of chief guest and resource persons with khataks.
Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Nubra, Sonam Nilza, delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of the training programme as well as the significance of Poshan Maah.
The training sessions covered important areas including the Poshan Tracker, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices and the significance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.
Resource Person Rigzin provided detailed insights into appropriate IYCF practices and underlined the crucial role of the first 1,000 days in ensuring healthy growth and development among children.
As part of the programme, Anganwadi Workers displayed a variety of locally available nutritious food items, highlighting the nutritional value of traditional and locally sourced foods and encouraging their inclusion in daily diets to improve nutritional outcomes among children and families.
On the occasion, Rigzin Dolma, Anganwadi Worker, Diskit Skilkhor-1, was felicitated as a “Poshan Champion” in recognition of her dedicated service, commitment and exemplary contribution towards the effective discharge of her responsibilities.
Addressing the gathering, SDM Nubra Mohd Safdar Bhat highlighted the importance of Poshan Maah in creating awareness about child health and nutrition. He stressed that adequate nutrition during the early years of life forms the foundation for a healthy and productive society and called for greater adoption of healthy nutritional practices.
He also emphasised the need for active community participation and collective efforts to address malnutrition and achieve the goal of making Nubra “Kuposhan Mukt” (malnutrition-free).
