NEW DELHI, SEPT 30: India and Australia on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to expanding defence cooperation as Major General Chris Smith, Deputy Chief of Army, Australian Army, met General Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff, in New Delhi.
The two senior military leaders held discussions on the evolving geostrategic environment and explored avenues for strengthening cooperation between the Indian and Australian armies.
The talks placed particular emphasis on enhanced interoperability, military-to-military engagement, joint training and professional exchanges, aimed at further strengthening the operational and institutional relationship between the two forces.
The interaction also highlighted the importance of sustained engagement in building mutual trust, professional understanding and closer institutional ties between the two armies.
The Indian Army said the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to strengthening bilateral defence relations and advancing a shared vision for regional security and stability.
Regular military interactions, training activities and professional exchanges have emerged as important components of the growing India-Australia defence partnership, providing the two forces opportunities to enhance coordination and share operational experiences.
The meeting between General Dhiraj Seth and Major General Chris Smith comes as both countries continue to expand strategic and defence cooperation, with greater interoperability and closer military engagement remaining key areas of focus.
The interaction underlined the continued commitment of the Indian Army and Australian Army to deepen defence ties and strengthen cooperation in support of regional security and stability.
