Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Joginder Singh has placed in-charge Border Police Post (BPP) PSI Vikram Choudhary and Constable Rinku Kumar under suspension in case of death of a youth on September 9, in Police custody in R S Pura area.
“Pending enquiry into inquest proceeding initiated vide DDR No 35 dated September 9, 2026 at Police Station R S Pura relating to death of deceased Uttam Chand, son of Darshan Lal, resident of Rakh Chakroi, these officers/officials of BPP Chakroi are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect,” read an order issued by SSP Jammu.
As per order, they will report to DPL Jammu and deposit uniform articles in DPL Store. “However, they are entitled to draw subsistence allowances as admissible under rules,” the order specified.
SP Rural, Jammu has been directed to hold departmental enquiry against them and submit findings into the matter to DPO Jammu at the earliest for further course of action.
Enquiry officer has also been directed to conduct a preliminary enquiry against SPOs Rajesh Choudhary, Ashwani Kumar and SPO Manpreet Singh for their conduct in connection with the incident. The three SPOs have been attached from BPP Chakroi to DPL Jammu with immediate effect.
