JAMMU, OCT 6: Janipur Police have busted a house theft case with the arrest of two suspects and recovery of gold ornaments worth approximately ₹3.20 lakh, bringing a suspected burglary to a breakthrough after investigators traced the stolen valuables and established their link with the complainant’s residence.

The case was registered following a complaint by Sanjeev Kumar, son of late Ram Ditta, resident of Basant Nagar, Upper Paloura, Janipur, who reported that an unidentified person had trespassed into his house and stolen gold ornaments.

Following the complaint, FIR Number 172/2026 was registered at Police Station Janipur under Sections 305, 331(3), 317(5) and 61(2) of the BNS, following which a dedicated investigation was initiated to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen property.

During the investigation, police team led by SHO Janipur Inspector Shariq Bhat developed vital leads and apprehended two suspects identified as Bhader Ali, son of late Sher Mohammad, resident of Keran Nallah, Bantalab, Jammu, and Kashish Sudan, son of Subash Chander Sharma, resident of House No. 32, Lane 9, Lakar Mandi, Janipur.

Police said sustained questioning led to the recovery of the stolen jewellery from the possession of the accused. The recovered property comprises four gold rings and one gold chain, weighing approximately 23 grams and collectively valued at around ₹3.20 lakh.

The recovered ornaments were subsequently identified by the complainant as the same articles stolen from his residence, providing investigators with a key piece of evidence in the case.

The investigation, however, has not been closed with the recovery. Police are continuing to question the accused to establish the full chain of the offence, ascertain whether others were involved and verify their possible links with other house thefts or property-related crimes in the area.

Further legal proceedings are underway as per law.
