Kandi Police cracks down on illegal bovine transportation, rescues 16 animals; three held, three vehicles seized

RAJOURI, OCT 3: In a significant enforcement action against the illegal transportation of bovine animals, Kandi Police rescued 16 bovine animals and arrested three persons after intercepting three Tata Mobile vehicles during naka checking near Higher Secondary School Kandi, police said on Saturday.

The operation was carried out by a team of Police Station Kandi during routine naka checking, where the three vehicles were intercepted while allegedly transporting bovine animals towards the Kashmir Valley without the requisite permission from the District Magistrate, Rajouri.

Sharing details of the action, SSP Rajouri Naresh Singh, said the police team intercepted the vehicles and rescued the animals before they could proceed further. All three vehicles used for the transportation were also seized.

In the first interception, police rescued four bovine animals from Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK11E-7164, allegedly driven by Mohd Shabir, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Mohra, Tehsil Kotranka. A case vide FIR Number 148/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered at Police Station Kandi.

In the second action, the police team intercepted Tata Mobile JK11E-5614 and rescued eight bovine animals. The vehicle was allegedly being driven by Mohd Razzaq, son of Mohd Ishaq, resident of Kotranka, Rajouri. Police registered FIR Number 149/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 PCA Act at Police Station Kandi.

In the third interception, another four bovine animals were rescued from Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK11F-2987, allegedly driven by Amar Iqbal, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Samote, Tehsil Kotranka. FIR Number 150/2026 was registered at Police Station Kandi under relevant provisions of law.

With the three interceptions, Kandi Police prevented the alleged unauthorised movement of 16 bovine animals and seized all three vehicles involved in the transportation.

Police said investigation in all three cases is underway to establish the complete circumstances surrounding the transportation and identify any further links, if established during the probe.

The action underscores the continued enforcement drive by Kandi Police against unauthorised transportation of bovine animals, with police reiterating that violations of the law and acts involving cruelty to animals will invite strict legal action.

Rajouri Police said enforcement against illegal transportation and animal cruelty would continue, with naka checking and field surveillance being maintained to prevent such activities across the district.
