SPO Nawang Tsering of the CID Wing secured first position in the 122-km Silk Route Ultra Marathon, completing the grueling endurance race in a record 12 hours, 12 minutes and 18 seconds. For his achievement, he was awarded the first prize along with a DGP Commendation Class-I certificate and cash reward of ₹15,000.
SPO Jigmet Dolma of the Traffic Wing also brought laurels to Ladakh Police by securing second position in the women’s category of the 72-km Khardungla Challenge Marathon. She completed the demanding race in 8 hours, 33 minutes and 16 seconds and was honoured with a DGP Commendation Class-I certificate and cash reward of ₹10,000.
Congratulating both personnel, DGP Anand Jain appreciated their dedication, hard work and commitment to endurance sports.
He encouraged them to continue striving for excellence at national and international competitions and bring further recognition to Ladakh Police and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The DGP also appreciated the efforts of Chewang Mutup Goba, Founder and Proprietor of the Ladakh Marathon, for establishing the event as a nationally and internationally recognised sporting event and placing Ladakh on the global marathon map.
He said the marathon has not only promoted endurance sports but has also contributed to projecting Ladakh as a major sporting and tourism destination, while helping extend the tourist season in the region.
The felicitation ceremony highlighted the growing participation of Ladakh Police personnel in endurance sports and their achievements at challenging high-altitude sporting events.
