GANDERBAL, SEPT 15: Libra Saloora made a winning start to the T-20 Knockout Cricket Tournament organised by Ganderbal Police under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), defeating Same Stars Nunner in the inaugural match at Madr-e-Meharban Qamariya Stadium, Ganderbal.
The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Dr. Urfan and DySP DAR Ganderbal Altaf Khan, marking the beginning of a district-wide cricketing competition featuring 64 teams from across Ganderbal.
The opening clash witnessed an enthusiastic contest between Libra Saloora and Same Stars Nunner, with Libra Saloora emerging victorious to register the tournament’s first win.
Aqib Parra of Libra Saloora was adjudged Player of the Match for his impressive performance.
The tournament has been organised with the objective of providing local youth a platform to display their cricketing skills while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy competition.
Addressing the gathering, the senior police officers congratulated the participating teams and emphasised that sporting activities play a vital role in developing discipline, physical fitness, teamwork and mental well-being.
They encouraged the youth to utilise their talent and energy in constructive pursuits and stay away from drugs and other harmful influences.
The initiative is part of Ganderbal Police’s continued efforts under CAP to strengthen youth engagement, promote sports and foster a healthy and drug-free community.
