KULGAM, SEPT 21: In a fresh crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Mir Bazar Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 21 grams of a cannabis-like substance during naka checking at Chidhama in Kulgam district.
Police personnel from Police Post Mir Bazar had established a naka at Chidhama as part of intensified checking and surveillance against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances.
During the operation, a scooty bearing registration number JK03Q-4003 was intercepted and searched. Police said 21 grams of a cannabis-like substance was recovered from its storage compartment.
The rider was identified as Sahil Ahmad Wani, son of Javid Ahmad Wani, resident of Devalgam, Kokernag, Anantnag.
The recovered substance has been seized as per procedure, and legal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant provisions of law.
The action underscores the intensified anti-narcotics drive being undertaken by Kulgam Police, with Mir Bazar Police maintaining heightened surveillance and checking to curb the movement and distribution of drugs.
Police have urged the public to share information about suspected narcotics-related activities and cooperate with law-enforcement agencies in tackling the drug menace.
