ANANTNAG, SEPT 21: Janglatmandi Police has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking with the arrest of a suspected peddler and recovery of 3 grams of cannabis and 357 grams of ganja at Ashajipora.
Acting on credible information, a police team from Police Post Janglatmandi intercepted and apprehended Muzaffar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Hassan Sheikh, resident of Nazuk Mohalla, Ganjiwara.
During a search, police recovered one cannabis stick weighing 3 grams and 357 grams of ganja from his possession. The contraband was seized as per law.
A case FIR Number 319/2026 has been registered at Police Station Anantnag under relevant provisions, while investigation has been initiated to establish the source of the narcotics and trace the wider network behind their supply and distribution.
The action forms part of Anantnag Police’s sustained anti-drug drive, with investigators focusing on identifying the channels through which narcotics are reaching local areas.
Police urged citizens to share credible information regarding drug peddling and trafficking, stressing that timely inputs can help trace suppliers, disrupt distribution networks and prevent narcotics from reaching vulnerable sections of society.
