SAMBA, SEPT 21: Samba Police has launched a major offensive against the illegal mining network, seizing 25 vehicles, including 15 dumpers, allegedly involved in illegal mining and unauthorised transportation of construction material across different parts of the district.
The crackdown was carried out by police teams headed by SHOs of Police Stations Samba and Ghagwal along with Incharges of Police Posts Mansar, Rakh Amb Talli, Supwal, Goran, Rajpura and Utterbehani during intensified patrolling and enforcement operations.
The seized fleet comprises 15 dumpers, 10 tractor-trolleys, including five without registration numbers, which police said were being used for transportation/mining of construction material in violation of applicable regulations.
The 15 seized dumpers bear registration numbers JK06C-5590, JK02CX-7769, JK02CU-1869, JK21G-5049, JK21J-6377, JK21G-6049, JK08K-9445, JK21G-3434, JK21D-9878, JK21H-5678, JK21G-0372, JK21G-3737, JK21D-5691, JK21G-7597 and JK19A-4641.
Five tractor-trolleys bearing registration numbers JK21K-4371, JK21A-1168, JK21G-9621, JK21H-3393 and JK08H-3484 were also seized, along with five unregistered tractor-trolleys.
All 25 vehicles have been handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Samba, for further legal action.
The scale of the seizure underscores the intensified enforcement against illegal extraction and movement of construction material.
Samba Police has reiterated that operators involved in unauthorised mining will face strict action, with further enforcement operations to continue across the district.
