RAMBAN, SEPT 21: Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, Arun Gupta, has directed police officers across the district to intensify action against organised crime, speed up pending investigations and strengthen preventive policing during a comprehensive crime review meeting held at the District Police Office.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Ramban, CPO/DPO, SDPOs, DySP DAR/Ops, SHOs and Incharge Police Posts.
Reviewing the policing performance and targets for 2026, the SSP sought station-wise assessment of investigations, inquest proceedings, crime patterns, cybercrime cases and implementation of the new criminal laws. Officers were directed to closely monitor every important case and ensure investigations are completed strictly on merit.
Gupta issued directions for time-bound disposal of pending cases and effective execution of court orders and processes, besides ensuring rigorous follow-up of cases during trial. Supervisory officers were asked to maintain close oversight over investigation and prosecution work.
A major focus of the meeting was organised crime. The SSP directed field officers to step up action against drug trafficking, bovine smuggling, crimes against women and other social offences.
While reviewing NDPS cases, he called for identification of the backward and forward linkages of drug networks to ensure action reaches the wider supply chain.
The SSP also ordered intensified efforts to trace missing persons, apprehend absconders and crack theft and burglary cases. Officers were directed to strengthen police visibility in crime-prone, sensitive and vulnerable areas and adopt preventive measures based on local crime patterns.
On community policing, Gupta directed officers to hold regular Police-Public meetings, youth outreach programmes and awareness drives, besides ensuring prompt grievance redressal.
The meeting also reviewed winter preparedness and road safety, with officers directed to remain operationally prepared for the coming season and conduct focused enforcement against traffic violations and other factors contributing to road accidents.
Emphasising technology-driven policing, Gupta directed officers to make effective use of modern investigative tools for improving the quality of evidence collection and strengthening prosecution.
He made it clear that quality investigation, timely action and strict adherence to law must remain the priority, directing officers at all levels to ensure that the decisions taken during the review meeting are reflected in policing on the ground.
