REASI, SEPT 21: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi conducted Thana Diwas at Ransoo, the base camp of the revered Shiv Khori Shrine, and issued firm directions to police and security personnel to strengthen security, tighten surveillance and ensure the safety of pilgrims and residents.
Accompanied by DySP SOG Pouni and SHO Police Station Pouni, the SSP heard grievances and concerns of local residents and directed the concerned officers to ensure prompt redressal of genuine public issues. He stressed that field-level policing must remain accessible, responsive and result-oriented.
The SSP directed residents to immediately report suspicious movement, drug-related activities and other security concerns to police. He also sensitised the public about ERSS-112 for emergency assistance and asked local shopkeepers to install CCTV cameras to plug surveillance gaps and eliminate blind spots in the area.
As part of the Civic Action Programme, the SSP announced that a volleyball tournament would be organised at Ransoo, directing that greater youth engagement be promoted through constructive sporting activities to keep young people away from drug abuse and other social problems.
Later, the SSP conducted a comprehensive security review of Shiv Khori Shrine and adjoining areas in coordination with CRPF and local police formations.
He directed DySP SOG Pouni, SHO Police Station Pouni, In-Charge Police Post Shiv Khori, SOG personnel and concerned CRPF personnel to maintain round-the-clock alertness, effective patrolling and strong ground-level intelligence.
He laid particular emphasis on securing the pilgrimage track and parking areas, strengthening area domination across adjoining forests and hills, and ensuring foolproof Road Opening Parties (ROPs) along the route leading to the shrine.
The SSP directed all concerned formations to maintain close coordination, immediately flag any emerging security concern and ensure that preventive measures remain in place throughout the pilgrimage route.
Reasi Police reiterated that pilgrim safety, protection of the local population and prevention of security threats remain paramount, while calling upon residents and stakeholders to maintain close coordination with security agencies.
