SRINAGAR, SEPT 21: Parents across Kashmir Valley have urged the Education Minister to reconsider the proposed two-day closure of schools, citing concerns over the cumulative loss of classroom teaching hours due to holidays, official programmes, rallies and other activities.
The parents said students are already facing pressure to complete the prescribed syllabus within the available academic calendar and that another two-day closure could further reduce teaching time and increase the burden on students and teachers.
They also appealed to the Education Department to keep students away from rallies, government functions and other activities that interrupt regular classroom instruction, unless their participation is directly linked to educational objectives.
Calling for greater emphasis on classroom teaching, the parents urged the government to ensure that schools receive adequate instructional time to complete the syllabus and prepare students effectively for examinations.
“The academic future of our children must remain a priority. Unnecessary disruption of classroom teaching should be avoided and the interests of students safeguarded,” the parents said.
