LEH, SEPT 15: Science came alive for students at Government Middle School Phey as DIET Leh’s Mobile STEM Lab rolled into the school, giving young learners a hands-on experience of Physics, Chemistry and Biology through live experiments and interactive demonstrations.
The outreach programme turned the classroom into a hub of curiosity and discovery, with students actively participating in experiments, asking questions and exploring scientific concepts beyond conventional textbook learning.
The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Principal DIET Leh Sonam Dorjey Namgail and Head of Science Department Tsering Yangdol. Science Resource Persons Chetna Sharma, Kunzes Dolma and Rashida Parveen conducted the interactive STEM sessions.
Students were introduced to a range of activity-based experiments designed to strengthen their understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts. The practical approach encouraged logical reasoning, creativity, problem-solving, scientific temper and teamwork, while generating keen interest among the young learners.
Adding another boost to science education at the school, DIET Leh also handed over a set of laboratory equipment to Government Middle School Phey. The equipment is expected to expand opportunities for regular experiments and strengthen hands-on scientific learning.
The Headmaster of the school appreciated the initiative, saying such programmes help students move beyond rote and textbook-based learning and understand concepts through meaningful practical experiences.
The Mobile STEM Lab outreach forms part of DIET Leh’s continued efforts to take experiential and innovative education to schools across Ladakh. The initiative aims to nurture scientific curiosity among students and make learning more practical, engaging and joyful.
With science experiments travelling directly to schools, the initiative is giving Ladakh’s young learners an opportunity to see, question, experiment and discover—rather than simply read about science in textbooks.
