SAMBA, SEPT 18: Samba Police conducted a comprehensive multi-agency mock drill at Railway Station Samba on Friday to strengthen emergency preparedness, inter-agency coordination and response capabilities at the vital railway installation.
The exercise was organised in collaboration with Government Railway Police (GRP) Samba, sister security agencies, emergency response teams and other concerned stakeholders. The drill was aimed at assessing the preparedness of various agencies to respond swiftly and effectively to any unforeseen security or emergency situation at the railway station.
Senior and field-level personnel from Samba Police and GRP, along with teams from the Health Department, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), K-9 Squad and other departments, actively participated in the exercise.
Before the commencement of the drill, all participating personnel were thoroughly briefed about their respective responsibilities, operational coordination, safety protocols and response procedures. The exercise enabled the agencies to test their communication, coordination and mobilisation mechanisms under a simulated emergency scenario.
A detailed debriefing session was also held after the completion of the drill. The participating teams reviewed the overall response, assessed operational preparedness and identified areas requiring further improvement to ensure a more coordinated and effective response during any real emergency.
SSP Samba said that such joint exercises are an important component of preparedness and capacity building. He emphasised the need for continued coordination among police, security agencies, emergency services and other stakeholders and stated that similar exercises would continue to be conducted to further strengthen the emergency response mechanism.
