Srinagar, Sep 21: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the autumn session of the Legislative Assembly was an opportunity for meaningful debate and discussion on the issues faced by the public.
The office of J&K CM in a post on ‘X’ said that the session would provide an opportunity for meaningful debate, constructive deliberations, and discussion on issues concerning the welfare and aspirations of the people.
“The Autumn Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly commenced in Srinagar today. The chief minister said the session would provide an opportunity for meaningful debate, constructive deliberations and discussion on issues concerning the welfare and aspirations of the people,” the CM’s office said in a post on X.
The seven-day autumn session of the assembly commenced witnessing ruckus on its first day as the opposition BJP tried to corner Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government on various public issues.
In reaction to demonstrations by opposition benches, the treasury benches raised the issue of restoration of statehood and demanded its immediate restoration as well.
Earlier, CM Omar who is also the Leader of the House joined the members of the J&K Legislative Assembly in paying rich tributes during obituary references to former legislators Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Dharam Paul, and Ghulam Hassan Khan, who passed away since the previous session.
CM Omar was also captured smiling in several videos as opposition BJP members created a ruckus in the House.
