The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a workers’ meeting in Chattabal, Srinagar, with PDP senior leader and Constituency Incharge Habba Kadal Arif Laigroo, former MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh and District Secretary Mohammad Altaf Tambakoo interacting with party workers and taking stock of the issues confronting residents of the area.
The meeting, as per a statement, witnessed a detailed discussion on several pressing public grievances, with workers highlighting the burden of high electricity bills, poor and unhygienic drinking water, and the deteriorating condition of lanes and drainage infrastructure in Chattabal.
Speaking on the occasion, Arif Laigroo said that basic civic amenities cannot be treated as a privilege and that the genuine grievances of residents must receive immediate attention from the concerned departments. He said that people are facing difficulties in their day-to-day lives and authorities must move beyond assurances and ensure visible action on the ground.
Laigroo assured the workers that the issues raised during the meeting would be taken up with the concerned authorities at the appropriate level, and stressed that public grievances would continue to remain a priority of the party.
He said that high electricity bills are putting additional pressure on ordinary households, while inadequate drinking-water facilities and neglected drainage and lanes are directly affecting public health and daily life. He urged the concerned departments to conduct on-ground assessments and address these issues in a time-bound manner.
Laigroo further called upon PDP workers to intensify public outreach and maintain continuous contact with residents, saying that the strength of the party lies in standing with people and raising their concerns at every appropriate forum.
Former MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh and District Secretary Mohammad Altaf Tambakoo also listened to the concerns raised by the workers and stressed the need for sustained engagement with the public.
The meeting was attended by Sarah Nayeem, Hajra Ji, Umar Dar, Fayaz Reshi, Shabir Ahmed, Zubair Ahmed and a number of other party workers.
