NEW DELHI, SEPT 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent participating in the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, praising the athletes for their hard work, dedication and determination.

In a post on X, Modi said the athletes had worked incredibly hard and expressed pride in their efforts. He wished the contingent success, urging the sportspersons to give their best and shine at the continental event.

The 20th Asian Games officially opened in Nagoya on Saturday and will continue until October 4. India is participating across multiple sporting disciplines.

Around 11,000 athletes from 45 nations are expected to compete during the Games across 43 sports and 71 sub-events, with 469 gold medals on offer.

Competitions in basketball, football, cricket and several other disciplines had already commenced ahead of the opening ceremony.
